PYP Homeroom teacher- Grade 5

About the Role

The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Grade 5 Homeroom Teacher to join our Junior School.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the overall teaching and learning of a Grade 5 class and deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based and transdisciplinary learning experiences.
• Teach Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies as part of the Grade 5 programme.
• Develop and deliver Units of Inquiry aligned with the IB PYP.
• Promote student voice, choice, agency and ownership of learning.
• Assess and monitor student progress and use assessment data to inform planning and differentiation.
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Support students' academic, social and emotional development.
• Collaborate with colleagues on planning, curriculum development and student support.
• Maintain effective communication with students, parents and colleagues.
• Contribute to co-curricular activities, field trips, school events and wider school life.
• Integrate Aga Khan Academy values and strands into teaching and learning.
• Participate in professional development and ongoing IB/PYP learning.

Candidate Profile

Essential

• Bachelors degree in Education or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching in a primary school; IB PYP experience is preferred.
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to inquiry-based and student-centred learning.
• Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.

Desirable

• IB PYP training or certification.
• Experience teaching Grade 5 or upper primary.
• Relevant Masters degree.
• Experience in an international school environment.
