About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Manager to manage procurement activities for a chemical manufacturing organization. The candidate will be responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor development, negotiation, purchase planning, and ensuring timely availability of materials at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials, chemicals, engineering items, spares, consumables, and other plant requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, develop, and maintain reliable vendor/supplier relationships.
• Negotiate price, quality, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions with suppliers.
• Develop alternate sources and ensure continuity of critical materials.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Stores, Finance, and Quality departments for procurement requirements.
• Prepare and process RFQs, comparative statements, purchase orders, and other procurement documents.
• Monitor purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Track market trends, material prices, availability, and supplier performance.
• Conduct vendor evaluation and periodically review supplier performance.
• Ensure procurement is carried out in accordance with company policies, approved budgets, and specifications.
• Support cost-reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and vendor development.
• Handle procurement-related commercial issues, shortages, quality concerns, and delivery delays.
• Maintain proper documentation and procurement records.
• Ensure compliance with applicable company procedures and statutory requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

• B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5–15 years of relevant experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in the chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, or process industry.
• Strong knowledge of industrial procurement and vendor management.
• Good negotiation, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Experience in procurement of chemical/raw materials, engineering spares, equipment, and consumables will be preferred.
• Working knowledge of ERP/SAP and MS Office is desirable.
• Candidates with experience in handling strategic and high-value procurement will be preferred.
