Purchase Manager - Construction Field

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Purchase Manager who can independently manage the complete Purchase & Procurement function. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of procurement, vendor management, material planning, negotiation, purchase processes, cost control, and timely material availability.

The candidate should be active, solution-oriented, and capable of identifying procurement issues, negotiating effectively with vendors, and providing timely solutions to management to ensure smooth project and site operations.

Role & responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the entire Purchase & Procurement Department.
• Handle day-to-day procurement activities including purchase requisitions, enquiries, quotations, purchase orders, and material follow-up.
• Source and evaluate reliable vendors, suppliers, and contractors as per company requirements.
• Obtain and compare quotations and negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial terms.
• Ensure timely procurement and availability of materials, equipment, tools, and services as required by projects and sites.
• Coordinate with project/site teams to understand material requirements, specifications, quantities, and delivery schedules.
• Monitor purchase orders from placement to final delivery and ensure timely follow-up with vendors.
• Maintain and monitor vendor database, quotations, purchase orders, invoices, and other procurement records.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Monitor market rates and identify opportunities for cost savings and better commercial terms.
• Ensure purchases are made within approved budgets and company policies.
• Coordinate with Stores, Accounts, Projects, and other departments for smooth procurement and material movement.
• Verify vendor quotations, purchase orders, delivery challans, invoices, and related documents.
• Handle vendor-related issues such as delayed deliveries, quality issues, shortages, and discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution.
• Identify procurement risks and provide practical and timely solutions to management.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders and ensure proper closure of pending procurement activities.
• Ensure proper documentation and internal controls are maintained for all purchase activities.
• Support management in procurement planning, budgeting, cost control, and vendor selection.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficient procurement practices.
• Take ownership of the Purchase Department and ensure smooth and timely functioning of all procurement activities.
