Purchase Head

MSD Controls LLP is hiring a full-time Purchase Head in Mumbai to lead the overall purchase and procurement function, reporting directly to the Director. The idePurchase Headal candidate will possess 8 - 12+ years of relevant experience in project-based industries like Fire & Safety, ELV, Automation, or MEP, ensuring timely, quality, and cost-effective material procurement.

As the , you will lead the end-to-end procurement function, ensuring that materials for projects, service operations, and office requirements are sourced efficiently. You will drive vendor development, manage commercial negotiations, control costs, and collaborate cross-functionally with Projects, Service, Stores, and Accounts teams to streamline operations.

Role & responsibilities

• Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute procurement strategies tailored to business goals. Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing purchase team.
• Sourcing & Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers. Source specialized systems, including Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm, ELV, Electrical, CCTV, Access Control, BMS, and Security equipment.
• Commercial Negotiation: Secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, delivery timelines, and optimal commercial conditions. Obtain and review price comparisons from multiple vendors.
• Execution & Compliance: Review, process, and track Purchase Orders (POs) through the internal approval matrix. Maintain deep procurement records and a robust vendor database.
• Risk & Quality Control: Cultivate alternate vendors to mitigate supply-chain risks. Monitor material quality standards and promptly resolve any vendor defect or non-compliance issues.
• Financial Alignment: Drive cost-reduction initiatives. Collaborate closely with the Accounts team for payment timelines, outstanding reconciliations, and cash flow management.
• Reporting: Generate monthly procurement Management Information Systems (MIS) reports and metrics for executive management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 812+ years of hardcore procurement experience, preferably within Fire & Safety, ELV, MEP, Automation, or Security engineering sectors.
• Technical Sourcing: Demonstrated ability to comprehend Bill of Quantities (BOQ), technical specifications, and project layouts.
• Tools: Strong command over MS Excel and structured ERP/procurement software platforms.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional commercial negotiation, stakeholder coordination, and analytical skills to manage multiple high-velocity project demands simultaneously.
