Purchase Head

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead the complete purchase and procurement function for the machine and tool manufacturing unit.
• Develop procurement strategies for raw materials, components, consumables and factory supplies.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors and suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts and delivery schedules to achieve cost efficiency.
• Ensure timely availability of materials as per production requirements and avoid production delays.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Planning and Quality teams for material planning and inventory management.
• Drive cost reduction, strategic sourcing and value engineering initiatives.
• Monitor supplier performance, quality, delivery and compliance.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure adherence to procurement policies and audit requirements.
• Manage import procurement and related documentation, wherever applicable.
• Lead, guide and monitor the purchase team and improve procurement processes.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 8-11 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement, preferably in machine, machine tools, engineering or manufacturing industries.
• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering preferred; MBA in Supply Chain/Operations will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of engineering raw materials, machine components, industrial consumables and general factory purchases.
• Proven experience in vendor development, strategic sourcing and price negotiation.
• Hands-on experience in cost reduction and procurement optimization.
• Good understanding of SAP/ERP and procurement systems.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Should have experience in team handling and end-to-end purchase operations.
• Candidates with import procurement exposure will be preferred.
• Should be comfortable working 6 days a week, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, in Rajkot.
