About this role
Public Markets Research Analyst US & Global Equities
Private Family Office | Doha, Qatar | Full-Time | Reports to: Principal / Head of Investments
Open to candidates currently based in India (or elsewhere) with direct front-office US and global public equity experience (no private equity or deal-side profiles). Relocation to Doha provided.
About the Opportunity
We are a private family office in Doha seeking a Public Markets Research Analyst to own research and idea generation across US and global developed-market equities for our public markets allocation. This is a high-visibility, high-ownership role: you will work directly with the Principal, with no layers between your analysis and the investment decision.
This is a front-office public markets position: liquid, listed securities, daily market pricing and active portfolio decisions. It is not a private equity, venture capital, M&A or investment banking deal-execution role.
The role combines deep fundamental research with quantitative and systematic methods, plus working knowledge of fund vehicles (ETFs, mutual funds, hedge funds) for both direct security selection and manager due diligence. We want someone who has run institutional-grade process at a hedge fund, asset manager, bank or offshore research team serving global clients, and who is excited to apply it in a lean, fast-moving, principal-led environment.
What You Will Do
- Research US-listed and global developed-market equities, maintaining a coverage list and a live idea pipeline
- Build and maintain financial models (DCF, comparables, scenario and sensitivity analysis) from US GAAP/IFRS financials, SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and earnings calls
- Apply quantitative techniques (factor screening, backtesting, mean-variance and portfolio optimization) to support security selection and portfolio construction
- Evaluate third-party ETFs, mutual funds and hedge funds relevant to our exposure, including basic manager due diligence
- Track macro developments (Fed policy, rates, earnings seasons), sector rotation and thematic trends, and translate them into clear, actionable views
- Write concise investment notes, research memos and recommendations for the Principal
- Monitor portfolio performance, attribution and risk metrics against relevant benchmarks
- Use Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, Visible Alpha or similar platforms for screening, data gathering and analysis
- Present findings clearly to a non-analyst audience, adjusting depth and complexity as needed
What You Bring (Must-Haves)
- 3+ years of hands-on coverage of US-listed and/or global developed-market equities in a front-office public markets role at a hedge fund, asset manager, or equity research team (buy-side or sell-side, including offshore teams serving global clients), working with liquid, listed securities and daily market pricing. Experience limited to Indian domestic equities, or primarily in private equity, venture capital, M&A, corporate finance or deal execution, will not meet this requirement.
- Demonstrated experience building DCF and comps models from US GAAP financials and SEC filings, and familiarity with US sector frameworks and earnings cycles
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field (Master's a plus)
- Working knowledge of the fund ecosystem (mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds), including basic fund and manager due diligence
- Exposure to quantitative and systematic investing concepts: factor models, backtesting, portfolio optimization
- Advanced Excel; working familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet or similar
- Excellent written and verbal English
Strongly Preferred
- CFA Charter, or Level II/III passed
- Background at a quantitative or systematic hedge fund, global asset manager, or institutional equity research team
- Product knowledge of structured notes (FCNs, Phoenix autocallables, step-down notes, accumulators/decumulators), including payoff mechanics, risk profile and suitability assessment
- Prior experience working in or with the US, UK, Singapore or Hong Kong markets, or with global offshore research teams in India
Who You Are
- Self-directed and comfortable without large team infrastructure
- Intellectually curious, with high analytical rigor
- Trusted with sensitive principal and portfolio information, with high integrity and discretion
- An owner: you flag risks and opportunities before being asked
- Able to translate institutional-grade process into a lean, fast-moving environment
Why This Role
- Direct access to the Principal and real influence on capital allocation
- Broad mandate across US and global equities, funds and structured products
- Relocation to Doha, Qatar, with a competitive tax-free compensation package
- Long-term growth as the family office's public markets platform expands
How to Apply
Submit your CV along with a short note answering: Which US-listed companies or sectors have you covered, and for how many years? Please also state whether your work was on listed public-market securities or on private deals. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to present a brief pitch on a US-listed stock of their choice.
Please note: applications from candidates whose experience is solely in Indian domestic markets, or primarily in private equity, venture capital, M&A or investment banking deal execution, will not be shortlisted for this role.
