Plaksha University invites applications for the position of

Project Associate-I under the ANRF-funded PM Early Career Research Grant project titled "TRIVENI-ITS: Traffic-Responsive Infrastructure for Visually Impaired Enablement at Intersections." The project focuses on developing an intelligent, infrastructure-assisted pedestrian crossing system aimed at improving mobility and safety for visually impaired, low-vision, elderly, and other vulnerable pedestrians at signalized intersections. The selected candidate will work on embedded systems, wireless communication technologies, smart mobility solutions, Android and wearable interfaces, field deployments, and experimental evaluation within an interdisciplinary research environment.

Key Responsibilities 1. Develop and implement embedded intersection units capable of acquiring real-time traffic signal information and intersection data through controller interfaces, APIs, simulators, or communication protocols. 2. Design, develop, and test BLE 5.1 and wireless communication modules for broadcasting pedestrian crossing information, signal status, and safety alerts. 3. Support the development of Android and wearable-based interfaces that provide audio and haptic navigation assistance to users. 4. Build and maintain data collection and logging pipelines for traffic events, communication latency, localization performance, and system reliability metrics. 5. Conduct laboratory testing, prototype validation, campus deployments, and field trials at selected intersections. 6. Assist in system installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support during deployments. 7. Support user studies involving visually impaired and low-vision participants while ensuring ethical and responsible data collection practices. 8. Analyze experimental data and generate technical reports, documentation, presentations, and research outputs. 9. Maintain project repositories, version control systems, and technical documentation. 10. Contribute to research publications, demonstrations, conferences, and intellectual property generation arising from the project.

Education & Experience 1. Bachelor's degree (4-year program) in: Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Robotics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation Engineering, Transportation Systems Engineering, Related disciplines. 2. Candidates with MTech/M.E./M.S. in Embedded Systems, Wireless Communications, IoT, Robotics, AI/ML, Intelligent Transportation Systems, or related domains will be preferred. 3. GATE/NET qualification is desirable. 4. Prior hands-on experience in embedded systems, IoT, wireless communication, Android development, localization systems, or assistive technologies will be an advantage.

Skills Required 1. Programming skills in Python, C/C++, Java, or Kotlin. 2. Experience with Linux environments, shell scripting, and Git version control. 3. Knowledge of embedded systems, Raspberry Pi, microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces. 4. Familiarity with BLE, UWB, IoT systems, and wireless communication technologies. 5. Understanding of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signal systems, and mobility technologies. 6. Exposure to simulation tools such as SUMO, VISSIM, ns-3, or similar platforms is preferred. 7. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. 8. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary research teams. 9. Interest in accessibility technologies, inclusive design, and human-centered engineering solutions.
