Production Engineer

Required Technical Skills

Mandatory:

• 24 years of experience in electronics production/manufacturing.
• Practical understanding of APQP.
• Experience in production planning, monitoring and execution.
• Experience using at least one ERP/MES/Production Tracking/Manufacturing Management tool.
• Good knowledge of Excel and production MIS.
• Understanding of BOM, drawings, revision control and engineering changes.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan and MSA.
• Experience with PCB assembly/PCBA manufacturing.
• Knowledge of SMT/THT processes and soldering.
• Knowledge of electronic product testing and functional testing.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Kaizen.
• Experience with ERP/MRP/MES systems such as SAP, Oracle, Odoo, Zoho, ERPNext or similar platforms.
• Basic understanding of production KPIs such as OEE, FPY, rejection rate, rework rate, productivity and cycle time.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Execution

• Plan and monitor daily, weekly and monthly production activities.
• Ensure production targets are achieved as per quantity, quality and delivery requirements.
• Monitor manpower, machine/equipment availability, material availability and production capacity.
• Coordinate with PPC, Stores, Purchase, Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production constraints.
• Monitor WIP and ensure smooth material flow through the production process.
• Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

2. APQP & New Product Introduction

• Participate in and support APQP activities for new and existing electronic products.
• Coordinate with NPD/R&D, Quality and Production during NPI (New Product Introduction).
• Support preparation and execution of:

Process Flow Diagrams

PFMEA

Control Plans

Work Instructions / SOPs

Process validation

Prototype and pilot production

Production trials

First-off / first-piece inspection

Process capability and improvement activities

• Track APQP milestones and ensure timely closure of action items.
• Support PPAP documentation and submission, where applicable.

3. Electronics Production

• Manage production activities related to electronic assemblies and products.
• Basic understanding of PCB assembly, soldering, connectors, wiring/harness assembly, testing and inspection.
• Coordinate with technicians/operators for assembly and testing activities.
• Ensure adherence to approved BOM, drawings, work instructions and process parameters.
• Monitor production defects and coordinate with Quality/Engineering for root-cause analysis.
• Support implementation of ECN/ECR and engineering changes on the production floor.

4. Production Tracking & MIS

• Maintain and monitor production data using ERP/MES/production tracking tools.

WIP

OEE, where applicable

On-time completion

Manpower utilization

• Prepare daily/weekly production reports and highlight deviations.
• Maintain production records and traceability.

5. Quality & Process Improvement

• Work closely with the Quality team to reduce rejection, rework and process variation.
• Participate in 8D, CAPA, RCA and corrective/preventive action activities.
• Use problem-solving techniques such as 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa and Pareto analysis.
• Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for cycle-time reduction, productivity improvement and process optimization.

Production Reports

Line Clearance Records

Inspection Records

Process Validation Records

Trial Reports

Production Readiness Checklists

• Ensure the latest approved documentation is available at the production workstation.
