About this role
The Data Platform Product Owner is responsible for helping define, prioritize, and drive the evolution of the enterprise data platform as a product. The role will help ensure that the platform is designed to address business needs and is tailored to the organization structure and scale, while simultaneously being an advocate for data-driven decision-making and the enablement of the platform across the organization. Acting as the bridge between business domains, data platform teams, and engineering, the Product Owner translates business needs into clear platform requirements, defines priorities, and ensures delivery of capabilities that maximize business value. The role is accountable for maintaining a clear product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the platform, balancing strategic initiatives (e.g., data products, governance, marketplace, migration) with operational stability and efficiency. The Product Owner works closely with platform engineering, data architects, other Product Owners and DevOps teams to ensure that platform capabilities are delivered in a standardized, reusable, and scalable manner. They also collaborate with business stakeholders and product teams to define how the platform is consumed, ensuring clarity in delivery models, ownership, and support structures. A key responsibility of the role is to establish and enforce ways of working for the platform, including intake processes, prioritization frameworks, and governance standards. This includes ensuring that data product ownership, privacy-by-design, and compliance requirements are consistently embedded across all platform use cases. As a key figure in a global, organizational-scale software initiative, the Data Platform Product Owner must be a promoter of the Agile mindset and a champion of continuous delivery and feedback, cooperating with the DevOps teams to implement practices that generate incremental and steady feature delivery at scale that adapts quickly to feedback and business changes. The role contributes to the continuous improvement of the platform by identifying gaps, driving enhancements, and aligning platform evolution with broader strategic initiatives such as data mesh adoption, data governance, and cloud transformation. Working closely with delivery leads, architects, and business product owners, the Data Platform Product Owner ensures a clear and transparent roadmap, enabling high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions that support both current operations and future growth.
