Job Description - Product Manager

Product Manager for the KYC team at SMC Global Securities Limited, with 3 to 5 years of experience. This role owns product decisions for customer onboarding and KYC workflows, working closely with engineering on third-party integrations and using acquisition metrics to track onboarding effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the KYC and customer onboarding product roadmap from account opening through KYC verification to activation.
• Work with third-party KYC/verification vendors (e.g. Aadhaar e-KYC, CKYC, PAN/bank verification, digital signature providers) and represent product requirements to engineering during integration.
• Identify and fix friction points in the onboarding funnel using data and customer feedback.
• Collaborate with compliance, legal, and operations to ensure onboarding flows meet SEBI/RBI/KYC regulatory requirements.
• Define and track metrics for onboarding effectiveness and report on funnel performance to stakeholders.
• Write clear product requirements/specs and work with design and engineering through build, test, and release.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Product Manager; fintech background preferred.
• B.Tech preferred but not mandatory; MBA is a plus.
• Track record of shipping features end-to-end from requirement gathering through launch and post-launch iteration.

Domain Knowledge

• Strong understanding of the customer onboarding process in Indian banking/broking account opening, KYC verification (Aadhaar e-KYC, CKYC, video KYC, in-person verification), and related regulatory requirements (SEBI, RBI, KRA norms).
• Familiarity with how KYC status affects downstream customer experience activation, trading enablement, and re-KYC/periodic updates.

Technical Skills

• Good technical grasp of how systems integrate with third-party KYC/verification vendors can read API documentation, understand request/response flows, and hold informed conversations with engineering about integration design, without needing to write code.
• Comfortable working with engineering to troubleshoot integration issues, scope new vendor integrations, and evaluate trade-offs between vendors on functionality, reliability, and turnaround time.

Analytical & Metrics Skills

• Solid understanding of the metrics businesses use to measure customer acquisition effectiveness funnel conversion rates, drop-off analysis by step, turnaround time (TAT), activation rate, cost of acquisition, and similar.
• Able to use these metrics to diagnose onboarding problems and prioritize product changes, not just report on them.
