About this role
Role Purpose Owns Ashika's API platform and fintech partnership ecosystem extending the broking stack beyond the app and website, and into every fintech, algo trader, and wealth platform that wants to transact in Indian markets. This role turns Ashika into an infrastructure layer, building a developer-grade API product, enabling algo-trading access for customers, and driving partner integrations that expand the platforms reach and revenue.
Key Ownership Areas The Product Manager – API & Fintech will directly own the following product surfaces and workflows: • API Platform — Public APIs for orders, market data, holdings, positions, margins, and funds with authentication, rate limiting, versioning, and SLAs • Developer Experience — Documentation, SDKs (Python, Node, Java), sandbox environment, developer portal, API keys, and status page • Algo Trading —Clear understanding of Algo trading activation and execution for eligible customers, in line with SEBI guidelines for retail and HNI algos • Fintech Partnerships — Fintech partner onboarding, integration, and growth across algo platforms, portfolio trackers, advisory, tax, and wealth tools • Commercial & Monetization — Partnership commercial models — free tier, paid subscription, revenue share, and co-branded journeys
Core Responsibilities API Platform Ownership • Own the end-to-end product roadmap for Ashika's public APIs — coverage, reliability, latency, and developer experience • Define API design principles, authentication (OAuth 2.0), scopes, rate-limiting tiers, versioning, and deprecation policies • Partner with engineering on infrastructure scaling, uptime SLAs, and low-latency order-routing for API-driven flows • Build and continuously improve the developer portal — documentation, SDKs, code samples, sandbox, and community resources
Algo Trading for Customers • Extend API-based algo trading access to eligible retail, HNI, and institutional customers • Design activation journeys, disclosures, risk controls, and kill-switch mechanisms for algo trading flows • Stay current with SEBI, exchange, and regulatory guidelines on retail algo trading, and evolve the product as the framework matures • Enable integrations with approved third-party algo platforms through the API Fintech Partnerships & Integrations • Identify, prioritise, and onboard fintech partners across target categories — algo, portfolio, advisory, tax, wealth, and research • Own the partner lifecycle end-to-end — BD pipeline, integration scoping, go-live, co-marketing, performance review, and renewal • Design and negotiate partnership commercial models — subscription, revenue share, co-branded onboarding, and embedded journeys • Build partner-facing tools — usage dashboards, reconciliation reports, transaction-level reporting, and support workflows
Compliance, Risk & Reliability • Work closely with compliance and legal on SEBI algo norms, data-sharing agreements, client consent frameworks, and partner contracts • Partner with risk and surveillance on order-flow monitoring, abuse detection, and incident response for API-driven traffic • Define and track API reliability SLAs — uptime, latency, error rate — and drive measurable improvement quarter over quarter
Growth & Ecosystem • Drive developer community engagement — documentation quality, reference implementations, technical content, hackathons, and workshops • Track and grow P&L metrics for the product line API-subscription revenue, partner revenue share, and brokerage from API-driven flows
Experience • 5–9 years of Product Management experience, with at least 3 years owning API, developer platform, or partnership products • Prior exposure to fintech, broking, payments, or trading infrastructure strongly preferred • Demonstrated ownership of a developer-facing or partner-facing product with measurable impact on adoption, integrations, or revenue
Skills & Attributes • Strong understanding of the Indian broking and fintech ecosystem • Working knowledge of SEBI algo trading norms, exchange connectivity, order types (market, limit, SL, SL-M, bracket, cover, GTT), and risk controls • Technical fluency — REST and WebSocket APIs, OAuth 2.0, rate limiting, versioning, SDKs, and developer-experience best practices • Comfort with data — SQL, analytics dashboards, usage metrics, and API observability tools • Strong commercial instincts — ability to design pricing tiers, evaluate partner economics, and articulate P&L trade-offs • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, compliance, risk, legal, BD, marketing, and external partners • Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable engaging with developers, partners, and senior leadership in equal measure
Education • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field. MBA or equivalent is a plus but not required.
