Product Design Lead

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary technical contact for customer engineering teams.
• Drive concept development, detailed design, and engineering change implementation for material handling products.
• Review and approve design deliverables including 3D models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable design standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
• Support product localization, cost optimization, value engineering, and design standardization initiatives.
• Lead technical reviews, root cause analysis, and problem-solving activities.
• Track project progress, and engineering KPIs.
• Support project estimation, planning, and customer reporting.
• Promote continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and best engineering practices within the team.
• Plan, allocate, and monitor engineering activities to ensure timely project execution.

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

• 10+ years of strong experience in mechanical design and product development within the Material Handling, Heavy Equipment, Construction Equipment, or Industrial Machinery domains.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
• Sound knowledge of welded structures, fabricated components, sheet metal, castings, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
• Understanding of DFM/DFA, GD&T, engineering calculations, and structural design principles.
• Experience in engineering change management and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in customer-facing roles with global engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team development capabilities.
• Problem-solving mindset with focus on quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering.
• Master's degree is desirable.
• Experience leading engineering teams in product development projects is preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities
The role involves ownership of product design and development activities related to mechanical systems. The individual will provide technical leadership, coordinate engineering deliverables, manage project execution, and act as the primary interface between the client and the engineering team to ensure quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved.
