Procurement Specialist

Role & responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for the procurement of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and all other items required for manufacturing and maintenance.
• Engage in effective contract negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain.
• Oversee inventory levels, track usage patterns, and implement measures to prevent stockouts while minimizing excess inventory.
• Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that procured materials and equipment meet specified standards.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Conduct thorough analyses of procurement decisions, considering long-term benefits and overall cost-effectiveness.
• Contribute to the development and execution of procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Preferred candidate profile

• University graduate holding a valid degree.
• Proven experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on steel or related industries.
• 5-8 years of work-related experience.
• At least 5 years of experience within the steel industry.
• Conversant with international trade and business processes.
• Knowledge of material codes and specifications.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent negotiation skills, especially in dealing with multinational sales/marketing professionals.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Detail-oriented and organized with excellent time management skills.
