Procurement Engineer (Spare Parts)

Role Objective

To support the procurement and coordination of spare parts for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) across India by working closely with vendors, OEMs, and internal teams.

The role involves sourcing spare parts, coordinating with suppliers, tracking purchase orders and deliveries, monitoring inventory requirements, and supporting cost optimization under guidance.

This position is suitable for candidates with a basic technical understanding, procurement or supply chain exposure, and a willingness to develop expertise in spare parts sourcing and supplier management.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Spare Parts Procurement

• Assist in procuring spare parts, including tyres, batteries, control units, joysticks, filters, hydraulic components, and engine parts.
• Identify potential suppliers and support supplier evaluation under guidance.
• Obtain quotations from vendors and prepare comparative statements.
• Assist in identifying cost-effective alternatives to OEM spare parts while maintaining quality standards.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely availability and delivery of materials.

B. Vendor and OEM Coordination

• Coordinate with domestic and international suppliers regarding part specifications, pricing, availability, and delivery timelines.
• Communicate with OEMs and alternate suppliers to obtain technical details and identify equivalent components.
• Support vendor onboarding, documentation, and supplier database maintenance.
• Assist in commercial discussions and price negotiations under the guidance of the procurement team.

C. Internal Coordination and Inventory Management

• Coordinate with service and maintenance teams to understand spare parts requirements.
• Track material demands and follow up on pending procurement requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and highlight potential stock shortages.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure the timely availability of critical spare parts.
• Support material planning based on operational requirements.

D. Purchase Order and Documentation Management

• Assist in preparing and tracking purchase orders.
• Monitor supplier commitments, delivery schedules, and pending orders.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier details, quotations, and purchase documentation.
• Support invoice verification and coordination with finance, where required.
• Prepare basic procurement reports and cost comparisons using MS Excel or ERP systems.

3. Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 23 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, inventory management, or engineering support; relevant internship or training experience may also be considered.
• Basic understanding of mechanical components, spare parts, hydraulics, filters, batteries, and engine components.
• Familiarity with procurement processes, purchase orders, quotations, and supplier coordination.
• Basic knowledge of vendor evaluation, pricing, and cost comparison.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP MM or other ERP systems is preferred.
• Good communication, coordination, and follow-up skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Willingness to learn spare parts sourcing and supplier management.

4. Preferred Industry Exposure

Candidates with exposure to any of the following industries will be preferred:

• Construction equipment and heavy machinery
• Automotive and auto components
• Industrial equipment and manufacturing
• Material handling equipment
• Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs)
• Equipment maintenance and after-sales service
