Process Associate - Preform (Glass)

Role & responsibilities

• Analyze process performance data and identify opportunities to improve product quality, yield, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Develop, validate, and maintain process models using MATLAB or similar software tools for predicting chemical vapor deposition behavior, dopant diffusion, and glass consolidation characteristics.
• Investigate process deviations, product defects, and quality issues using root cause analysis methodologies and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Perform material characterization and process evaluation related to up-doping and down-doping materials, ensuring compliance with product specifications and performance requirements.
• Conduct chemical analysis and troubleshooting activities to resolve manufacturing and development issues associated with raw materials, process chemicals, and deposition systems.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, R&D, and engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and new process development projects.
• Evaluate existing equipment performance and recommend customized tooling, fixtures, and equipment modifications to enhance process capability and operational reliability.
• Support qualification and implementation of new manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and process parameters.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, control plans, and technical reports.
• Monitor critical process parameters through statistical analysis and process control techniques to ensure consistent product quality.
• Participate in failure analysis activities and provide technical solutions for process-related customer complaints and internal quality concerns.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management system requirements during manufacturing operations.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in Chemical Vapor Deposition will be an added advantage.
• Hands on experience chemical deposition (OVD or VAD or MCVD) and diffusion techniques.
• Strong fundamental knowledge of material science, especially in Up and down doping materials area.
• MATLAB or any other software programming and develop a model for Chemical Vapor deposition, diffusion, and quartz glass consolidation Prediction models
• Practical experience with solder flux related chemical analysis skills in resolving a wide range of development / manufacturing issues.
• Ability to create customized solutions, and proposes customizable equipment, necessary for process improvements.
• Mechanical parts knowledge and practical experience.
• Strong problem analysis, troubleshooting and solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, proven ability to work with cross functional teams.
• Excellent ability to multitask, and work under tight deadlines.
• Bachelor/master's in engineering / Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 2-5 years working experience.

• Experience in Optical Preform Manufacturing is preferred.
