About this role
About the Opportunity
Ericsson is looking for an experienced Problem Manager – CNIS and Cloud-Native Infrastructure to support the stability, resilience, and continual improvement of Kubernetes-based telecom platforms.
In this role, you will manage the end-to-end problem lifecycle for incidents affecting CNIS platforms, Kubernetes clusters, cloud-native network functions, 5G Core workloads, container networking, storage, infrastructure, and associated monitoring systems. You will lead structured root-cause investigations, identify recurring failure patterns, coordinate permanent corrective actions, and prevent repeated service impact.
The role requires strong coordination skills combined with a sound technical understanding of Kubernetes, CNFs, Rook/Ceph, Multus, Calico, SR-IOV, Linux, telecom networking, and Ericsson cloud-native platforms.
Problem Management and Root-Cause Analysis
- Own the complete problem-management lifecycle, from problem identification and logging through investigation, action tracking, validation, and closure.
- Analyse recurring incidents, major incidents, alarms, performance degradation, capacity issues, and customer-impacting failures across CNIS environments.
- Lead and facilitate structured RCA investigations involving L1, L2, L3, platform engineering, network, storage, security, vendors, and customer teams.
- Investigate failures involving:
- Kubernetes control-plane and worker nodes
- CNF deployment, scaling, upgrade, and lifecycle operations
- Multus, Calico, SR-IOV, CNI, and service-networking problems
- Rook/Ceph clusters, CSI drivers, and persistent storage
- Linux, hardware, compute, and network infrastructure
- BGP, VLAN, VXLAN, IPAM, and switch connectivity
- Monitoring, logging, authentication, and security integrations
- Distinguish between immediate incident symptoms, contributing factors, and the confirmed technical root cause.
- Ensure RCA reports clearly document the problem statement, timeline, impact, investigation evidence, root cause, workaround, corrective action, and prevention measures.
- Coordinate permanent fixes and preventive actions with responsible technical teams.
- Maintain clear ownership, milestones, dependencies, risks, and target completion dates for all action items.
- Track remediation activities related to CNIS configuration, Kubernetes upgrades, CNF lifecycle procedures, storage resilience, network design, monitoring, and security controls.
- Validate that corrective actions have effectively resolved the underlying problem and prevented recurrence.
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, capacity improvement, and operational-process enhancement.
- Maintain accurate Known Error Records, workarounds, problem records, and technical documentation.
- Facilitate regular problem-review meetings and ensure timely progress against open problems.
- Coordinate investigations across operations, cloud platforms, network engineering, storage, security, service assurance, vendors, and customer-facing teams.
- Ensure effective escalation and communication for high-impact or recurring CNIS and 5G Core issues.
- Work with incident managers and technical teams to identify problems from major incidents and repeated operational failures.
- Support post-incident reviews and ensure lessons learned are converted into measurable improvement actions.
- Use incident, alarm, event, and performance data from platforms such as Netcool, OMC, Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/ELK, and Loki to identify trends.
- Review Kubernetes, CNF, Ceph, Linux, and network telemetry to establish evidence-based problem hypotheses.
- Track problem-management KPIs, including recurring incidents, ageing problems, overdue actions, RCA quality, and recurrence reduction.
- Prepare management reports, technical RCA summaries, problem-review dashboards, and continual-service-improvement recommendations.
- Support operational readiness reviews for new CNIS platforms, CNFs, upgrades, and infrastructure changes.
- Required Skills and Experience
- Experience in Problem Management, Service Management, Network Operations, Cloud Operations, or Telecom Infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of ITIL Problem Management, RCA methodology, Known Error Management, and continual service improvement.
- Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native telecom environments.
- Understanding of CNIS, CNFs, 5G Core workloads, and containerised service platforms.
- Working knowledge of:
- Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting
- Helm, YAML, Git, and CNF lifecycle operations
- Multus, Calico, SR-IOV, CNI, and CSI
- Rook/Ceph and persistent storage troubleshooting
- Linux operating systems, including RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu
- L2/L3 networking, BGP, VLAN, VXLAN, IPAM, and routing
- SDI, Juniper, or Extreme SLX switching environments
- Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/ELK, and Loki
- PKI, Syslog, LDAP, Keycloak, SSO, RBAC, and Kubernetes security
- Familiarity with Ericsson tools and platforms such as ENM, CENX, EO-EVNFM, OMC, ESM, and CNIS.
- Experience using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or JIRA.
- Ability to analyse technical evidence using tools such as kubectl, ceph, Linux commands, logs, alarms, and monitoring dashboards.
- Strong stakeholder-management, facilitation, documentation, and communication skills.
- ITIL Foundation certification is preferred. Kubernetes certifications such as CKA are an advantage.
