Principal Database Refactoring & Performance Architect

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Database Refactoring & Performance Architect with 8 to 12 years of expertise in database modernization, performance engineering, data architecture, and cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Oracle databases, Azure SQL, SQL Server, and enterprise data platforms. This role will be responsible for leading database refactoring initiatives, optimizing legacy systems, supporting Oracle-to-Azure migration programs, improving data quality, and designing scalable data architectures that support business intelligence, analytics, and digital transformation objectives.

What You'll Do:

• Analyze and refactor legacy Oracle database objects, including SQL queries, PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
• Optimize complex SQL and PL/SQL code to improve performance, scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
• Identify and eliminate database technical debt, redundant objects, duplicate logic, and inefficient processing patterns.
• Perform data profiling, reconciliation, validation, and root cause analysis to improve enterprise data quality.
• Design and optimize analytical data models, reporting datasets, data marts, and business KPIs.
• Support Oracle to Azure SQL migration and modernization initiatives.
• Conduct schema assessments, migration planning, data validation, and database modernization activities.
• Develop and optimize solutions across Oracle, Azure SQL Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL environments.
• Design scalable data architectures that support enterprise applications, analytics, and reporting platforms.
• Create dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions using Power BI and related BI platforms.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data teams, architects, and application teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Document data flows, mappings, business rules, technical specifications, and modernization recommendations.
• Conduct database performance assessments and recommend optimization strategies.
• Support enterprise analytics, reporting, governance, and cloud transformation programs.
• Drive database best practices, governance standards, and architectural guidelines across projects.
• Participate in technical reviews, solution design discussions, and modernization roadmaps.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 8 to 12 years of experience in Data Analysis, Database Development, Data Architecture, and Analytics Engineering.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Oracle Database (11g, 12c, and 19c).
• Experience working with Azure SQL Database and Azure cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL environments.
• Advanced expertise in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development.
• Extensive experience developing and maintaining packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
• Strong background in query optimization, SQL tuning, and database performance engineering.
• Experience refactoring legacy databases and modernizing enterprise data platforms.
• Expertise in data profiling, data quality management, and reconciliation processes.
• Experience designing analytical data models and reporting datasets.
• Knowledge of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and business intelligence concepts.
• Experience with Oracle-to-Azure migration and cloud modernization initiatives.
• Hands-on experience using Power BI for enterprise reporting and dashboard development.
• Strong understanding of database security, governance, and compliance best practices.
• Experience identifying and resolving complex data and performance issues.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and optimized data solutions.
• Experience working with cross-functional business and technical teams.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
