About this role
Role & Responsibilities: As a Principal Backend Engineer & Technical Lead you'll be responsible for technical leadership, system architecture, and team development of our AI-led interoperable digital enablement platform. You will work directly with the founder/CEO to shape the technical vision and drive engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities: ● Lead the architecture and design of scalable backend systems using Node.js and TypeScript, including REST and GraphQL APIs ● Make critical technical decisions regarding system design, technology stack, and architectural patterns ● Design and implement high-performance, distributed systems with focus on scalability and reliability ● Establish technical standards, best practices, and development workflows ● Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, fostering their growth and technical capabilities ● Drive technical innovation while ensuring system stability and maintainability ● Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions ● Own the technical roadmap and make strategic decisions about technology adoption ● Implement monitoring, observability, and performance optimization strategies ● Lead architectural reviews and maintain high code quality standards ● Manage technical debt and system evolution
Requirements: ● Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field ● 7+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, with 3+ years in a technical leadership role ● Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, including advanced language features and patterns ● Extensive experience designing and scaling distributed systems ● Strong background in database design and optimization with PostgreSQL ● Expert knowledge of ORMs (Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize) and their performance implications ● Proven experience with event-driven architectures and message queuing systems at scale ● Track record of leading successful technical initiatives and driving architectural decisions ● Experience building and mentoring engineering teams ● Strong system design and problem-solving skills ● Excellence in technical communication and documentation ● Proven ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities
Preferred: ● Experience with microservices architecture and domain-driven design ● Strong DevOps background with expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS) ● Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps practices ● Knowledge of observability tools and practices (logging, monitoring, tracing) ● Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery planning ● Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities ● Experience in healthcare or AI-driven systems ● Track record of technical publications or conference presentations Join us to lead the technical direction of our innovative healthcare platform.
