As an Application Engineer, here is how you can make a difference. You will be at the forefront of innovation, providing hands-on technical support to our strategic customers during the Design phase. You'll work with GlobalFoundries' advanced Fotonix platform along with SiGe, RFSOI, GaN shaping the future of semiconductor design. Your expertise in Silicon Photonics along with RF will give you an edge! This position isn't just about technology; it's about collaboration. You'll interact directly with customers, internal RD teams ensuring seamless communication and delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical solutions to address complex design issues and ensure customer success.
- Develop customized technical presentations and proposals to support solution evaluation.
- Manage and resolve technical issues promptly to meet design win, tape-out, and MPW goals.
- Be a Voice of Customer to internal teams, driving improvements in enablement solutions and technologies.
- Collaborate with product marketing, design solutions, and technology development teams; provide real-time customer feedback.
- Stay informed on competitive design, technology trends, and emerging threats.
- Partner with account and sales managers to ensure smooth post-design win transitions to Field Application Engineers and Customer Engineering teams.
- Resolve obstacles to design wins by engaging internal experts and ensuring first-time silicon success.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree (M.S./M.Tech) with Specialization in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (Photonics and related fields) from a reputed university with good academic records and with 1 - 2 years of experience or a PhD with Specialization in Photonics or Integrated Optics from a reputed university.
- Understand critical circuit specifications which are important for achieving system-level performance.
- Proficiency in automation, debugging and resolving complex PDK front-end and back-end issues.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize flows involving LVS, PEX, DRC, and associated density and reliability tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both external and internal customers at all levels across geographies.
- Be able to collaborate with program and technical design leads on multiple concurrent projects.
- Patents and publications will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10% travel may be required on a need basis.
Preferred EDA Tools
- Strong background in silicon photonics device physics and circuit design fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with Ansys Lumerical suite and other simulation software such as Spectre, HSpice.
- Simulation platforms such as ADEXL.
- Performing aging, noise, reliability analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Design Frameworks such as Cadence Virtuoso, Custom Compiler.
- Layout viewers - Klayout, CalibreDRV.
- LVS/DRC tools: Pegasus, Calibre, ICV.
- PEX tools: Quantus, StarRC, xRC.
- EMIR tools: Voltus-fi, Redhawk.
- EMX tools: HFSS, Momentum.
Other Responsibilities
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental Health, Safety Security requirements and programs.
