Power BI Quality Analyst

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Quality Analyst with strong expertise in Power BI testing, SQL, data validation, and BI/reporting QA. The candidate will be responsible for validating the accuracy, functionality, performance, and quality of Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets before production deployment.

The role involves working closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Client Services, and business stakeholders to ensure reporting solutions meet business requirements, data quality standards, and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI QA & Testing

• Review business and functional requirements for Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Create and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Validate Power BI report functionality, calculations, filters, drill-throughs, and user interactions.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and UAT testing.
• Verify reports against business requirements and acceptance criteria.

Data Validation & SQL

• Perform source-to-target data validation.
• Reconcile Power BI report data with source systems and databases.
• Validate DAX calculations, measures, KPIs, and aggregations.
• Identify data discrepancies and ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Write and execute SQL queries for data validation and testing.

Performance Testing

• Validate Power BI report and dashboard load performance.
• Identify and document performance bottlenecks.
• Validate dataset refresh schedules and refresh status.
• Test reports across different user groups and scenarios.

Defect Management

• Log, track, and manage defects using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve reporting defects.
• Retest defect fixes and perform regression testing.

Documentation

• Prepare and maintain test plans, test cases, test results, and test evidence.
• Document testing outcomes and provide testing sign-off recommendations.
• Support reporting governance, audit, and compliance activities.
