Power BI Governance

Job Summary:-

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Power BI Governance & Monitoring Specialist to oversee and optimize our Power BI environment. This role will be responsible for scanning and monitoring Power BI workspaces, gateways, and capacity environments. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot and resolve issues related to connectivity, compute/memory usage, data refreshes, and user activity, ensuring a robust and scalable analytics infrastructure.

Roles & Responsibilities:-

• Continuously monitor Power BI workspaces, datasets, gateways, and capacities.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues related to Data refresh failures, Gateway connectivity problems, Memory and CPU capacity overutilization, Performance bottlenecks in reports and dashboards
• Implement best practices for Power BI governance across the organization.
• Ensure proper workspace management, dataset certification, and access control. Support data lineage and impact analysis initiatives.
• Monitor and manage Premium capacities, optimizing resource allocation.
• Develop scripts and automated tools using PowerShell, REST APIs, or other technologies to streamline monitoring and reporting.
• Create internal dashboards and reports to surface key metrics and KPIs for stakeholders.
• Work with BI developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to support ongoing Power BI usage and adoption.
• Provide guidance on dataset optimization and model design best practices.

Required Skills:

• 6-8 years of experience managing or supporting Power BI environments.
• Strong understanding of Power BI service architecture including workspaces, gateways, and Premium capacity.
• Experience with Power BI REST APIs and PowerShell scripting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Purview, or similar governance tools is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across connectivity, compute/memory, and refresh pipelines.
