    Role Summary

Power BI Developer – Investments will design, build, and maintain analytics solutions that support investment decisionmaking and reporting. The primary focus is on advanced Power BI development (data modeling, DAX, complex dashboards) combined with solid software engineering skills in .NET for data preparation and integration. The role will work with data from Databricks and other investment data sources to deliver secure, scalable, and usertailored dashboards and reports for portfolio managers, analysts, and senior stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Investment Data Integration & Preparation

    • Connect Power BI to Databricks and other investment data sources (e.g., portfolio, benchmark, risk, pricing, market data).
    • Develop .NET (C#) components, APIs, and/or batch jobs to ingest, transform, and prepare investment data for BI consumption.
    • Implement business rules for performance, risk, exposure, attribution, and other investment metrics in collaboration with investment and risk teams.
    • Ensure data quality, lineage, and consistency across datasets and reports.

    Power BI Development (Primary Focus)

    • Design and build robust Power BI datasets, semantic models, and complex DAX calculations for investment analytics and reporting.
    • Develop interactive dashboards and reports for portfolio monitoring, performance & attribution, risk/limits, and management information.
    • Optimize models for performance, usability, and scalability; manage refresh strategies, aggregations, and incremental loads where appropriate.
    • Apply best practices in visualization to present complex investment data clearly and intuitively to portfolio managers and senior management.

    Security, Filtering & Personalization

    • Implement rowlevel and objectlevel security in Power BI to control access by user, desk, fund, strategy, region, or client segment.
    • Configure solutions so end users (e.g., portfolio managers, analysts, product, risk) automatically see data relevant to their role and permissions.
    • Work with identity/entitlement data to drive dynamic filtering and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

    Collaboration & Governance

    • Partner with investment, risk, performance, and operations teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
    • Work with data engineers/architects on data models, reference data, and integration patterns (Databricks, data lake, warehouses, etc.).
    • Contribute to BI and engineering standards (coding practices, version control, documentation, testing, deployment).
    • Provide production support for critical reports and dashboards, including investigation and resolution of data or performance issues.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Stay current with Power BI, .NET, and Databricks capabilities and how they can be applied to investment analytics.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve analytical capabilities for the Investments team.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience.
    • Strong handson experience as a Power BI Developer in a corporate or financial/investments environment.
    • Solid .NET (C#) development background, ideally in datacentric or backend applications (APIs, services, ETL/ELT).
    • Experience working with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms and large, complex datasets.
    • Strong skills in:
    • Power BI Desktop: advanced data modeling and DAX
    • Power Query (M) for data shaping
    • Power BI Service: workspaces, dataflows, security, deployment
    • SQL (including performanceconscious querying of large tables)

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience in an Investments / Asset Management / Wealth / Capital Markets environment.
    • Familiarity with investment concepts such as portfolios, benchmarks, performance, risk, exposure, attribution, and compliance limits.
    • Experience with Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory).
    • Experience implementing rolebased access, RLS, and auditability in regulated environments.
    • Knowledge of CI/CD for BI and .NET (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git, automated deployments).

    Key Competencies

    • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, especially with numerical and timeseries data.
    • Ability to bridge business and technology: comfortable discussing requirements with investment professionals and translating them into technical designs.
    • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and reliability.
    • Collaborative, proactive, and able to work independently in a fastpaced investment environment.
