Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Expert with strong hands-on expertise in semantic modelling, report analysis, DAX, SQL query tuning, and performance optimization. The candidate should possess a solid understanding of business requirements and domain-specific reporting needs, with the ability to analyze and optimize existing BI solutions rather than focusing solely on report and dashboard development. The ideal candidate must also have experience with Azure Analysis Services (AAS) cubes and Power BI Capacity Management, including performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise BI workloads.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and optimize Power BI semantic models, tabular models, relationships, measures, and calculations.
• Analyze existing Power BI reports and dashboards to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
• Optimize DAX expressions, SQL queries, data models, and report execution to improve performance and responsiveness.
• Troubleshoot complex reporting issues, inefficient queries, refresh failures, and data model performance problems.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand domain requirements, business metrics, KPIs, and reporting logic.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, efficient, and reliable Power BI solutions.
• Manage and optimize Azure Analysis Services (AAS) tabular models and cubes, including model processing and query performance.
• Monitor Power BI capacity utilization, analyse workload performance, and identify resource-intensive reports or datasets.
• Perform root-cause analysis and recommend improvements to semantic models, query execution, and capacity utilization.
• Follow best practices for Power BI Service, dataset refresh, deployment, governance, and performance management.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver high-quality analytical solutions in an offshore environment.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI.
• Expertise in semantic modelling, dimensional modelling, and tabular data models.
• Advanced DAX and SQL skills, including query tuning and performance optimization.
• Experience in Power BI report analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Analysis Services (AAS), tabular models, and cubes.
• Experience with Power BI Capacity Management, utilization monitoring, and workload optimisation.
• Good understanding of business intelligence concepts, KPIs, business metrics, and domain requirements.
• Knowledge of Power BI Service, dataset refresh, and deployment practices.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as DAX Studio and SQL Server Profiler is preferred.
