Post Silicon Validation Apps Engineer

Responsibilities

• Customer Technical Ownership
• Act as the primary technical interface for customer platform issues, validation activities, feature enablement, and production-readiness engagements.
• Own customer technical issues from initial engagement through final resolution.
• Platform Validation Support
• Validate AMD Embedded and x86 platforms across multiple hardware and software configurations.
• Execute system-level and platform-level validation plans.
• Support qualification, interoperability testing, and customer deployment readiness.
• Verify engineering fixes through validation and regression testing.
• Customer Issue Triage
• Own structured triage of customer issues, including reproduction strategy, technical data collection, debug coordination, prioritization, tracking, and closure.
• Reproduce customer failures in AMD labs and identify root causes.
• Platform Debug Root Cause Analysis
• Investigate failures involving PCIe Gen4/Gen5, DDR4/DDR5 memory, USB, Networking, Storage, Graphics, Display, RAS features, Platform peripherals, Power and performance subsystems
• Escalation Management
• Engage Silicon Engineering, BIOS/Firmware Engineering, Validation, QA, Product Management, and Program Management organizations when engineering support is required.
• Create complete engineering escalation packages including logs, traces, validation results, reproduction procedures, customer impact assessments, and root-cause hypotheses.
• Platform Bring-Up
• Support customer bring-up activities across prototype, validation, qualification, and production phases.
• Participate in board-level and system-level debugging and platform readiness reviews.
• Customer Communication
• Provide timely, technically accurate customer updates, issue summaries, workaround guidance, validation findings, closure notes, and escalation status.
• Field Team Enablement
• Support FAEs and customer-facing teams with technical guidance, issue reviews, validation methodologies, and product capability clarification.
• Cross-Functional Closure
• Drive issue resolution through defined workflows and ensure clear ownership, accountability, and execution across stakeholder teams.
• Customer Readiness
• Contribute to customer satisfaction, product adoption, platform quality, design-win support, production readiness, and long-term customer success.
• Validation Automation
• Drive validation automation initiatives to improve coverage and efficiency.
• Develop validation tools, scripts, and test methodologies.
• Contribute to troubleshooting guides, validation best practices, and knowledge repositories.

Preferred Experience

• 5-7 years of experience in Applications Engineering, Customer Engineering, Post Silicon Validation, Platform Validation, Product Validation, Embedded Systems, Platform Engineering, or related technical roles.
• Strong hands-on experience in post-silicon validation and platform qualification of x86 or embedded platforms.
• Experience with PCIe Gen4/Gen5, DDR4/DDR5 memory, USB, Networking interfaces, NVMe and storage technologies, Graphics and Display technologies, RAS validation, Power and performance validation
• Experience supporting external customers, ODM/OEM engagements, field escalations, and production issues.
• Strong platform-level debug skills across silicon, firmware, BIOS, operating systems, drivers, hardware, and validation domains.
• Experience with debug tools such as protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, firmware traces, and crash dump analysis.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, embedded Linux, scripting, and automation using Python or shell scripting.
• Experience working in global cross-functional environments with engineering, validation, product, program, QA, and customer-facing teams.
• Prior experience with AMD platforms, embedded x86 products, communications, industrial, networking, storage, automotive, AI, or compute segments is preferred.

Academic Credentials

• Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required.
• Master s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline is preferred.
• Equivalent industry experience in platform validation, post-silicon validation, embedded systems, customer engineering, or platform engineering may be considered where applicable.
