Role & responsibilities

• Edit three long-form YouTube videos per month: two interview podcast episodes and one solo episode, typically 6090 minutes each.
• Create a compelling 3060-second opening teaser for every video, built around the strongest insight, question, story, or audience takeaway.
• Edit for YouTube retention by tightening pacing, removing filler and repetition, improving flow, and using intentional visual changes when the topic shifts.
• Shape interview episodes into polished, engaging long-form videos using thoughtful camera switches, reaction shots, conversational rhythm, and clean structure.
• Edit solo episodes in a way that keeps direct-to-camera content engaging, using supporting graphics, on-screen text, visual callouts, relevant B-roll, and strong pacing.
• Break full episodes into multiple standalone, topic-based short videos for YouTube or the content library, where one conversation can be separated into clear subtopics with independent value.
• Identify strong hooks, sections, and ideas within each episode, and proactively recommend cuts or topic-based versions that could support channel growth.
• Improve overall production quality through audio cleanup, level balancing, basic color correction, subtitles or captions where needed, branded lower thirds, and polished final exports.
• Organize raw footage, project files, brand assets, revision files, and final exports in a clean and reliable workflow.
• Incorporate feedback efficiently, complete revisions on time, and take ownership of the final quality of each video.

Preferred candidate profile

• 2-5 years of experience editing long-form podcasts, interviews, educational videos, or YouTube content.
• Strong understanding of YouTube-first editing, including audience retention, viewer behavior, first-30-second hooks, structure, pacing, and when to change visuals to maintain interest.
• Proven ability to edit both long-form conversational content and solo talking-head content in an engaging, polished, professional style.
• Experience turning one full episode into several topic-specific shorter videos, not just social-media clips.
• Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory, with the ability to understand nuanced conversations and make strong editorial decisions.
• Strong storytelling instincts, editorial judgment, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or similar editing tools.
• Comfortable with multi-camera remote recordings, separate audio tracks, captions, color correction, audio enhancement, lower thirds, and branded visual elements.
• Knowledge of and genuine interest in the subject matter is highly preferred, because it helps the editor spot stronger hooks, better topic cuts, and more engaging ways to shape the content.
• Proactive, resourceful, and self-directed, with the initiative to suggest improvements rather than only execute instructions.
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage deadlines independently in a remote role.
• Must provide relevant work samples, especially full-length YouTube or podcast edits, opening teasers, and examples of longer videos broken into topic-based cuts.
