PLC Software Engineer

Job Summary

Join our team as a PLC software Engineer and play a key role in developing and supporting cutting-edge, software-enabled products for customers in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Based in Bangalore, you will work closely with product management and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and prototype, design, develop, build, unit-test, document and package software solutions, helping contribute to better health for more people.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, product owners, service, engineers, field application engineers and internal development teams to gather, analyze and define requirements for advanced software functionality, bug fixes and software updates and upgrades throughout the software lifecycle
• Innovate and develop sustainable software systems through prototyping, precise software design and active participation in design reviews, with a focus on reengineering and software migration strategies
• Develop clean, maintainable and high-quality code with a focus on performance and memory efficiency
• Conduct thorough unit testing to ensure code reliability and functionality, and develop the required test, functional and implementation documentation
• Implement automated testing solutions at unit and nightly regression levels to enhance software reliability
• Ensure seamless software and hardware system integration and functionality through thorough validation
• Support technical support and development teams with expert guidance and problem-solving assistance, contributing to continuous improvement and adaptation in software projects

What will convince us

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics or equivalent, combined with substantial professional experience
• 7+ years of project experience using Siemens TIA Portal | STEP 7 for programming, with proficiency in Structured Control Language (SCL)
• In-depth understanding of Siemens S7-1500 series PLC models and simulation software
• Proven experience interfacing PLC systems with SCADA systems
• Familiarity with lifecycle management tools such as Polarion is preferred, and knowledge of versioning tools such as SVN is advantageous
• Fluency in English is essential
• Experience in software development using Java, C++, C# or .NET is beneficial, while knowledge of interfacing TIA Portal with .NET tools via TIA Openness is advantageous
