Platform Engineer SRE & Application Development

About the Role

We are looking for a highly hands-on Platform Engineer who can move seamlessly between SRE/platform responsibilities and production application development.

This is a dual-focus engineering role. You will own systems end-to-end from application code and infrastructure through deployment, observability, troubleshooting, and production operations.

GCP and AWS experience are mandatory.

What You'll Do

• Own production reliability, availability, observability, incident response, and root-cause resolution across GCP and AWS.
• Build, operate, and improve Kubernetes/GKE environments, Terraform infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
• Design, develop, debug, and maintain production applications, APIs, backend services, and automation using Python, Go, or similar backend languages.
• Operate and optimize distributed data workloads using BigQuery, Pub/Sub/Kafka, Airflow/Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, and related services.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across application, infrastructure, networking, and data layers.
• Reduce operational toil through automation and improve platform resilience, scalability, performance, observability, and cloud efficiency.
• Use modern AI-assisted engineering tools thoughtfully for coding, debugging, prototyping, automation, and technical problem solving while validating security, quality, and production readiness.

Must-Have Skills

• 3-6 years of hands-on experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, Backend Engineering, or Cloud Engineering.
• Strong production experience with both GCP and AWS.
• Strong application development and debugging skills in Python, Go, or another modern backend language.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform/IaC, CI/CD, and cloud-native production systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot distributed systems across application, infrastructure, networking, and data layers.
• Strong Linux, monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident-management experience.

Preferred Skills

• GCP Associate or Professional certification.
• Deep experience with GKE and production Kubernetes operations.
• Experience with BigQuery, Pub/Sub/Kafka, Airflow/Cloud Composer, and high-throughput data platforms.
• Experience building highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Experience with modern AI-assisted engineering tools for development, debugging, automation, and technical problem solving.

• Leaves systems easier to operate through better design, tooling, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

This Role Is Not

• A monitoring-only or support-only SRE role.
• A traditional infrastructure administrator position.
• A DevOps role focused only on CI/CD.
• An application developer role disconnected from production operations.
• A coordination-focused role with limited hands-on engineering.
