ROLE SUMMARY

• Position: Planning Engineer
• Location: Chennai (On-site)

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day project scheduling, progress monitoring, and resource tracking for our residential projects in Chennai. This role involves close coordination with site execution teams, procurement, and billing departments to identify bottlenecks, update schedules, and ensure that milestones are met efficiently and on schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Project Scheduling: Assist in developing and maintaining detailed master project schedules (Baseline) using MS Project or Primavera P6. Track actual progress against planned timelines.
• Daily & Weekly Tracking: Prepare, review, and compile accurate daily and weekly progress reports (DPR/WPR) highlighting key tracking metrics, materials consumed, and manpower deployment.
• Material & Resource Forecasting: Track inventory, consumption, and look-ahead material requirements to prevent site stockouts and minimize unnecessary inventory holding costs.
• Manpower Monitoring: Monitor daily subcontractor and departmental manpower deployment against target schedules. Highlight resource constraints to the Project Manager.
• Cost & Cash Flow Tracking: Assist the planning management team in monitoring weekly/monthly cost flows, tracking budget variations, and preparing quantity/progress data for billing.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as a bridge between the site execution team, procurement, and project managers to ensure clear communication of targets and timelines.
• Documentation: Maintenance of updated engineering logs, drawings versions, schedule revisions, and critical project correspondence.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Mandatory Requirement: Hands-on experience working on Residential Construction Projects is strictly required.

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management, or a Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience in project planning and tracking within real estate or infrastructure construction.
• Software Skill Set: Strong hands-on proficiency in MS Excel. Preferred - MS Project (MSP), or Primavera P6.
• Core Competencies: Strong data tracking abilities, quick problem-solving skills, and clear interpersonal communication to manage site teams effectively.
