Physical Education Teacher (PET) - Female - Padur

1. Job Purpose

The Physical Education Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering effective physical education and sports programmes for students. The role focuses on developing students' physical fitness, sports skills, teamwork, discipline, leadership, healthy habits and overall well-being through structured physical activities and sports programmes.

2. Key Responsibilities

Physical Education & Sports Training

• Plan and conduct age-appropriate physical education classes for students.
• Teach fundamentals, rules and techniques of various indoor and outdoor sports.
• Develop students' physical fitness, coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength and agility.
• Organise regular fitness activities, drills, games and physical training sessions.
• Encourage students to participate actively in sports and physical activities.

Sports Coaching & Competitions

• Identify and develop students with potential in various sports.
• Train school teams for inter-school, district, state and other sporting competitions.
• Organise and coordinate intra-school and inter-school sports events.
• Prepare students for athletics, team sports and individual sporting events.
• Maintain records of student participation and performance in sports activities.

Student Safety & Discipline

• Ensure proper safety procedures are followed during all physical activities and sports sessions.
• Inspect sports grounds, equipment and facilities before use.
• Ensure appropriate warm-up and cool-down exercises are conducted.
• Provide basic first aid support in case of minor sports-related injuries and promptly report serious incidents.
• Maintain discipline and ensure responsible use of sports equipment and facilities.

Sports Infrastructure & Equipment

• Maintain an inventory of sports equipment, uniforms and other physical education resources.
• Ensure sports equipment is properly stored, maintained and used safely.
• Identify requirements for new or replacement sports equipment.
• Coordinate with the administration for maintenance of playgrounds, courts, gymnasium and other sports facilities.

Student Development

• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, leadership and a positive competitive spirit.
• Encourage students to develop healthy lifestyle habits.
• Motivate students to participate in regular physical activity irrespective of their sporting ability.
• Support students in setting and achieving individual fitness and sports goals.
• Monitor student participation and provide appropriate guidance and feedback.

School Events & Activities

• Coordinate Annual Sports Day and other athletic/sports events.
• Support school assemblies, camps, excursions and other student activities where required.
• Organise fitness programmes, sports clubs, tournaments and recreational activities.
• Assist in preparing students for special events and demonstrations.

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain attendance and participation records for physical education classes.
• Prepare lesson plans and activity schedules.
• Maintain records of student sports achievements and participation.
• Participate in staff meetings, training programmes and professional development activities.
• Coordinate with class teachers, school management and parents regarding students' sports participation and performance.
• Comply with all school policies, safety procedures and administrative requirements.
• Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Principal or Management.

3. Educational Qualification

Essential:

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

Preferred:

• Master's Degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed.).
• Diploma/Certification in sports coaching or specialised sports training.
• First Aid / CPR certification.
• Knowledge of fitness training and sports injury prevention.

4. Experience

• 25 years of relevant experience as a Physical Education Teacher in a reputed school is preferred.
• Experience in coaching school teams and organising sports events will be an added advantage.
• Candidates with experience in inter-school, district or state-level sports coaching may be preferred.
