About the role

You would work on School On Web and College On Web - the ERP that several hundred institutions use as their system of record. That means real users, real data and consequences when something breaks: a bug in the fees module is somebody s receipt. In a team this size you will see a feature through from the conversation with the institution to the release, rather than picking up tickets from a queue.

What you would do

• Build and maintain modules across the ERP - admissions, examinations, fees, accounts, attendance
• Write SQL that stays fast as an institution s data grows over years, not weeks
• Build the APIs the mobile app and third-party school websites consume
• Take a requirement from an institution and turn it into something that works for the other institutions too
• Work with QA on test cases before release, and help diagnose what the error reports are telling us

What we are looking for

• 2-6 years writing PHP in production
• Hands-on with Laravel or Symfony - either is fine, we use both
• Solid MySQL: schema design, indexes, and reading a slow query rather than guessing
• Object-oriented design and comfort with common patterns, without turning everything into one
• Git, and enough front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to finish your own work
• MCA, B.Tech or equivalent - and if you can do the work, we are not precious about the degree

Nice to have: REST API design, AWS, experience with payment or SMS gateway integration, or having worked on software used by non-technical people every day.
