India, bringing these titles together as the Autocar vertical to connect more closely with automotive enthusiasts and car buyers across the country.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Photo Editor for the Autocar vertical, covering the print magazine and its digital platforms. Based out of Mumbai, this role will work closely with the Art Director, Editor, editorial team and web team to deliver high-quality, natural-looking vehicle imagery for print and digital within tight deadlines.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Colour-correct, enhance and retouch images (exposure, contrast, white balance, sharpness, colour casts, noise and dust) while retaining natural colours and the photograph’s original character.

2. Bring out vehicle details, such as headlights, grilles, body lines, wheels, interiors and displays, while keeping reflections, paint textures, shadows and highlights realistic.

3. Prepare high-resolution, print-ready images with accurate colour reproduction, applying a sound understanding of CMYK/RGB, colour and ICC profiles, and cropping to page layouts.

4. Optimise images for web, mobile and social media (JPEG, WebP, PNG) across formats and aspect ratios, balancing quality with file size, and create engaging thumbnails and feature images.

5. Deliver consistent images for road tests, reviews, comparisons and magazine covers across outdoor, studio, action and low-light shoots.

6. Manage multiple assignments against strict editorial deadlines, maintain organised files and originals, and work with the Art Director, Editor, editorial and web teams to keep image quality consistent.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

5–6 years of experience as a Photo Editor / Image Editor, working across both print and digital platforms.

Experience with an automotive magazine or publishing house will be an advantage.

Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop for image correction, retouching, masking, compositing and image preparation.

Working knowledge of Adobe Lightroom or Camera Raw for RAW processing and batch editing, and Adobe Bridge for managing large image libraries; basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign is desirable.

Strong eye for detail, a sound understanding of print reproduction, and a willingness to adapt to new digital workflows.
