Part-Time Microbiologist

Background\ \ BluumBio is a California-based biotech company. We develop products for bioremediation, using microbes to break down industrial chemicals in the environment. We work with a broad range of customers in the oil, mining, wastewater and aerospace industries.\ \ We are looking for a part-time Microbiologist to run water and soil treatability studies with partners across Australia in our lab in Sydney. Time commitment would be 5-10h a week.\ \ Typical duties will include:\ \ Interfacing with clients to organize the sending and receipt of soil and water samples\ Preparing product for treatability studies\ Setting up soil and water experiments with guidance from senior scientific staff\ Taking down soil and water experiments\ Packing and shipping soil and water samples for third-party analytical analysis\ Disposal of soil/water in hazardous waste\ Potential duties may also include helping to set up field demos\ \ Required qualifications:\ \ 2+ years of experience in a lab based setting\ General training in environmental science/and or microbiology\ Completion of lab safety training\ Experience in analytical chemistry would be highly beneficial but not required\ Experience in remediation would be highly beneficial but not required\ \ Compensation & Benefits\ Pay is $35-50 AUD/hr depending on experience\ \ \ Start date is flexible but ideally in late August.
