Paediatrics Professor

Job Summary

The Assistant Professor in Paediatrics is responsible for providing high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical patient care, academic mentoring, research, and departmental responsibilities in accordance with institutional policies and applicable medical education standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

• Conduct lectures, tutorials, seminars, demonstrations, bedside teaching, and small-group teaching for undergraduate medical students.
• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes.
• Conduct clinical teaching in paediatric wards, outpatient departments, emergency services, and neonatal areas as assigned.
• Prepare lesson plans, presentations, teaching materials, assignments, and assessment activities.
• Conduct practical, clinical, OSCE/OSPE, and other academic assessments.
• Participate in internal and university examinations.
• Mentor and guide undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Maintain appropriate academic and teaching records.

2. Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to paediatric patients.
• Assess, diagnose, treat, and follow up infants, children, and adolescents.
• Participate in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and on-call services.
• Manage common paediatric illnesses and provide appropriate emergency care.
• Participate in neonatal care and newborn management as per institutional requirements.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
• Follow hospital infection-control, patient-safety, and clinical protocols.
• Communicate effectively with patients' parents/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

3. Research Responsibilities

• Participate in clinical, academic, and community-based paediatric research.
• Develop and participate in research projects and clinical studies.
• Guide undergraduate research projects and postgraduate research activities, as applicable.
• Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
• Participate in conferences, CME programmes, workshops, and academic meetings.
