P&ID Process Designer (SmartPlant P&ID) – 4 to 7 Years Experience
About The Role We looking for an experienced
P&ID Process Designer with
4–7 years of experience in developing and maintaining Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Chemical, and Process industries. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of process engineering documentation, SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID), and engineering drafting standards, with the ability to deliver high-quality engineering documents within project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using
SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) .
- Convert legacy P&IDs (PDF/DWG) into intelligent SmartPlant P&ID models.
- Create intelligent engineering data with proper tag management.
- Develop and maintain line lists, equipment lists, instrument indexes, and process data.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and engineering standards.
- Perform quality checks and resolve engineering inconsistencies.
- Coordinate with Process Engineers, Instrumentation Engineers, and Piping teams.
- Update engineering documentation based on Management of Change (MOC) requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and implement client comments.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
Required Skills
- 4–7 years of experience in Process Design or P&ID Design.
- Hands-on experience with
SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) .
- Good understanding of:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Piping systems
- Instrumentation symbols
- Control philosophies
- Experience in:
- Tag creation & management
- Line numbering
- Instrument indexing
- Valve tagging
- Equipment tagging
- Strong knowledge of:
- ISA Standards
- ANSI Standards
- PIP Standards
- Oil & Gas engineering practices
- Good understanding of engineering document control.
Preferred Skills
- SmartPlant P&ID Administration knowledge (added advantage)
- SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) exposure
- SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) knowledge (preferred)
- Microsoft Excel & Office Suite
- Experience with Engineering Data Management Systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (with relevant experience) may also be considered..
