Job Title: Oracle EBS Apps DBA
Experience: 6 to 10 Years
Location: Remote
About the Role The candidate will be responsible for managing the Oracle EBS application and database environments hosted on Oracle Exadata services within Oracle Cloud Services. The role requires strong technical expertise in EBS administration, database administration, RAC high availability, performance tuning, WebLogic Maintenance backup and recovery, cloud operations, and production support.
Responsibilities
- Oracle EBS Administration
- Perform annual version upgrades from the existing 12.2.x release to the latest n-1 supported version, as per business and Oracle support requirements.
- Perform application-tier and database-tier administration activities, including startup, shutdown, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, cloning, and environment maintenance.
- Manage Oracle EBS services, including Concurrent Managers, Workflow Mailer, Forms, Reports, Apache/OHS, WebLogic Managed Servers, application listeners, and related application components.
- Perform ADOP online patching, application patching, technology stack patching, one-off patch application, and post-patch validation.
- Perform environment cloning activities, including production-to-test and test-to-development refreshes.
- Maintain EBS context files, AutoConfig, application file systems, dual file systems, and environment configurations.
- Troubleshoot login issues, concurrent program failures, workflow issues, forms issues, application performance issues, and application availability issues.
- Good at different patching techniques of adop, patch, and smart patch for various components for the EBS, WebLogic and Database.
- Apply required one-off patches and coordinate with functional, technical, database, infrastructure, and Oracle Support teams to resolve production issues.
- Monitor and support production EBS environments configured with a shared application-tier architecture, Parallel Concurrent Processing, internal nodes, and external-facing nodes.
Oracle Database and RAC Administration
- Manage Oracle databases supporting EBS environments.
- Administer Oracle RAC environments, including Grid Infrastructure, ASM, CRS, OCR, Voting Disk, SCAN Listener, VIP, database listeners, and database services.
- Perform database monitoring, backup, recovery, patching, upgrade support, capacity management, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot RAC node failures, cluster service issues, ASM disk group issues, listener issues, interconnect problems, and database availability incidents.
- Manage tablespaces, datafiles, indexes, archive logs, FRA, undo, temporary tablespaces, and overall database growth.
- Use AWR, ADDM, ASH, SQL Trace, TKPROF, execution plans, SQL tuning methods, and performance diagnostic tools to identify and resolve database performance issues.
- Monitor production database instances 24x7 and ensure high availability with a target uptime of 99% or higher.
- Support high-availability and disaster recovery requirements using Oracle RAC, RMAN, Data Guard, backup validation, restore testing, and operational monitoring.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, storage, network, and Oracle Support teams to resolve production issues and maintain service stability.
OCI Administration
- Manage Oracle EBS application and database workloads hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Work with OCI services, including Compute, Block Volume, Object Storage, File Storage, VCN, Subnets, Security Lists, Network Security Groups, Load Balancer, IAM, Backup, and Monitoring.
- Support OCI resource provisioning, storage expansion, backup configuration, snapshots, compute scaling, and continuous environment monitoring.
- Manage and support Oracle Exadata services on OCI, including database availability, performance, storage, backup, patching coordination, and operational monitoring.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, network, security, cloud operations, and Oracle Support teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure stable service operations.
- Monitor OCI-hosted EBS and database environments to ensure availability, performance, security, and compliance with operational requirements.
Backup, Recovery and DR
- Configure, monitor, and maintain RMAN backup jobs for Oracle databases.
- Perform database restore, recovery, backup validation, and recovery testing as part of the quarterly disaster recovery drill.
- Support Oracle Data Guard configuration, monitoring, switchover, failover, and troubleshooting activities.
- Monitor standby database synchronization, redo apply status, archive log gaps, replication lag, and overall disaster recovery readiness.
- Ensure backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures are documented, tested, and aligned with the agreed Recovery Time Objective and Recovery Point Objective.
- Participate in quarterly DR drills to validate database recovery procedures, application availability, failover readiness, and compliance with agreed RTO and RPO targets.
- Identify gaps in backup, recovery, Data Guard synchronization, and DR readiness, and coordinate corrective actions to meet business continuity requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in Oracle EBS Apps DBA administration.
- Hands-on experience in Oracle EBS R12.2 architecture and support.
- Strong knowledge of ADOP, Autoconfigure, FNDCPASS, WebLogic, OHS, Concurrent Manager, Workflow Mailer, Forms, and Reports.
- Strong Oracle Database administration experience.
- Hands-on experience in Oracle RAC, ASM, Grid Infrastructure, CRS, SCAN, VIP, and listeners.
- Experience in RMAN backup and recovery.
- Experience in Oracle Data Guard administration.
- Good understanding of OCI Compute, Storage, Network, IAM, Backup, and Monitoring.
- Good knowledge of Linux administration and shell scripting.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Preferred Skills
- Oracle certifications will be an added advantage, preferably in one or more of the following areas:
