Oracle Database Administrator

Job Title: Oracle Database Administrator (L1)

Role Summary

Entry-to-mid level DBA responsible for day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and support of Oracle database environments under guidance from L2/L3 DBAs.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor database health, performance, and availability using OEM/scripts
- Perform routine backups (RMAN) and verify backup success/failure logs
- Handle first-level troubleshooting of database alerts, job failures, and space issues
- Manage user accounts, roles, and basic privilege grants
- Monitor and clear tablespace, archive log, and disk space issues
- Execute scheduled maintenance tasks (stats gathering, log rotation, cleanup jobs)
- Log and escalate critical incidents to L2/L3 teams per SOP
- Support patching, cloning, and refresh activities under supervision
- Participate in on-call/shift rotation for 24x7 support coverage
Required Skills
- Basic to intermediate SQL and PL/SQL
- Understanding of Oracle architecture (instance, memory structures, processes)
- Experience with RMAN backup/recovery basics
- Basic Linux/Unix command-line skills
- Knowledge of tablespace/storage management
- Understanding of user/security management basics

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 02 years of experience in database administration/support
- Good to Have Exposure to Oracle RAC, Data Guard (conceptual)
- ITIL/ticketing tool familiarity
