Role Description As an Open-Source Contributor at Athletes Academy, you will help build and improve the platform’s open-source components and tools that support athletes and coaches. This volunteer role is on-site in the Greater Delhi Area, where you will collaborate with product and engineering contributors to design, implement, test, and document features and integrations. Day-to-day activities may include contributing code, reviewing pull requests, fixing bugs, writing technical documentation, and refining data pipelines or interfaces that interact with AI-driven services. You will also participate in discussions about project roadmaps, suggest enhancements based on user and community feedback, and help maintain coding standards and best practices across the codebase.
Qualifications
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages commonly used in open-source projects (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or similar) and familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience contributing to open-source repositories, including code reviews, issue tracking, and collaborative development workflows on platforms like GitHub or GitLab.
- Understanding of web or application development concepts, such as APIs, front-end or back-end frameworks, and basic software testing practices.
- Interest in or exposure to AI, data analysis, or machine learning concepts, especially as they relate to sports performance or digital coaching tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment, communicate clearly, and document work in a structured, accessible manner.
- Motivation to support athletes and coaches through technology, with a willingness to learn, take feedback, and engage with the wider contributor community.
- Relevant academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering, data science, or related fields) or equivalent practical experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
