About this role
- Shift Management
- Supervise and coordinate all nursing activities during the assigned shift.
- Ensure adequate staffing and appropriate allocation of nurses according to patient workload and acuity.
- Conduct shift handover and ensure continuity of patient care.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and staff discipline.
- Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure patients receive safe, timely, and quality nursing care.
- Monitor compliance with medication administration, infection-control, patient-identification, and safety protocols.
- Ensure proper documentation of nursing care, vital signs, medication, procedures, and patient progress.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Ensure proper admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
- Staff Supervision
- Guide, supervise, and support nursing staff during the shift.
- Monitor staff performance and identify training or competency requirements.
- Assist in resolving staff-related issues and maintain professional discipline.
- Mentor junior nurses and promote teamwork and professional conduct.
- Clinical Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, resident doctors, nursing managers, laboratory, pharmacy, housekeeping, and other support services.
- Communicate significant changes in patients' conditions to the concerned doctor and nursing management.
- Ensure timely implementation of doctors' orders and treatment plans.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.

- Take immediate charge during medical emergencies, code situations, or other critical incidents.

- Communication & Reporting
- Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, doctors, and nursing staff.
- Address patient/attendant concerns professionally and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
- Prepare and submit shift reports and other required nursing reports.
