Roles and Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the overall functioning of the hospital.
• Conduct and/or assist with OPD and IPD services.
• Conduct and/or assist with deliveries, as required.
• Provide essential newborn care.
• Provide technical assistance to the healthcare team as and when required.
• Facilitate need-based referrals to nearby linked healthcare facilities and follow up on referred cases.
• Ensure two-way referrals and follow-up of referred patients.
• Ensure proper segregation and collection of biomedical waste (BMW) in colour-coded bags.
• Administer medications to patients as prescribed by the Medical Officer/CHO.
• Maintain all hospital registers and records on a daily basis.
• Actively participate in upgradation and refresher training programmes.
• Provide proper handover to the next nurse at the end of each shift and maintain the handover register.
• Maintain and update the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
