Newpage - Software Engineer - Java

Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Java Software Engineer to support the GCMA and Veeva MLR ecosystem by designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications, services, and utilities that enable workflow automation, system integrations, and platform stability. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java development, microservices architecture, cloud technologies, and enterprise application integration. This role will play a critical part in modernizing existing solutions, supporting release delivery, and enabling operational readiness for ongoing business enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java-based applications and microservices.
• Build and enhance utilities and backend services supporting GCMA operational workflows and business processes.
• Configure and enhance Veeva Vault solutions, including metadata, workflows, lifecycles, validations, security configurations, and custom objects.
• Develop and maintain integrations between Veeva Vault and enterprise systems using REST APIs and middleware technologies.
• Refactor and modernize legacy applications to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution and root cause analysis.
• Support release management, deployment activities, and post-release validation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
• Implement automated testing and CI/CD best practices to improve software quality and deployment efficiency.
• Contribute to system monitoring, performance tuning, and operational excellence initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in Java application development.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8/11/17 and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Hibernate/JPA, and Microservices Architecture.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, and API integration patterns.
• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and clean code principles.
