Network Engineer

Job Scope

Basic knowledge of Data Center Networking, LAN/WAN, switches, routers, TCP/IP, and network connectivity.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day monitoring of network infrastructure and identify network alerts or connectivity issues.
• Provide L1 support and basic troubleshooting for LAN/WAN and network connectivity-related issues.
• Monitor network devices such as switches, routers, and other network equipment.
• Perform basic troubleshooting using ping, traceroute, IP configuration, DNS/DHCP checks, and device/interface status.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, VLANs, and basic routing concepts.
• Basic knowledge of switching concepts such as VLAN, STP/RSTP, trunking and EtherChannel.
• Basic understanding of routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP will be an advantage.
• Monitor network performance and escalate recurring or critical issues to the L2/L3 team.
• Log, update, and track incidents and service requests in the ticketing system as per defined processes and SLAs.
• Perform initial checks on network interfaces, link status, connectivity, and device health.
• Coordinate with L2/L3 teams, Data Center teams, and other IT teams for issue resolution.
• Maintain proper documentation of incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
• Follow standard operating procedures and network monitoring/escalation processes.
• Willingness to work in a 24x7 shift-based environment for network monitoring and support.
• Basic exposure to Cisco networking devices will be preferred.
