National Credit Manager - Banking

We are looking for an experienced National Credit Underwriting to lead credit underwriting and risk management for Home Loans (HL) and MSME / Loan Against Property (LAP) portfolios. The role will be responsible for developing credit policies, underwriting frameworks, risk standards, and ensuring consistent and robust credit decisions across the organization.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in credit underwriting, credit policy, appraisal, risk management, and large-scale lending operations, with proven experience managing national credit teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance credit policies, risk frameworks, and underwriting standards for Home Loans and MSME/LAP products.

- Lead national credit underwriting operations and ensure consistent application of credit policies across locations.

- Establish appropriate credit appraisal methodologies, approval matrices, delegation of authority, and underwriting guidelines.

- Oversee the end-to-end credit appraisal and underwriting process, from application assessment through sanction and disbursement.

- Evaluate borrower profiles, financial statements, banking transactions, cash flows, collateral, repayment capacity, and overall creditworthiness.

- Monitor portfolio quality and identify emerging credit risks, trends, and early warning indicators.

- Balance business growth objectives with prudent credit risk management and portfolio quality.

- Review and approve high-value, complex, and exception cases in line with defined credit policies and delegated authority.

- Drive continuous improvement in credit processes to improve TAT, quality, productivity, and risk-adjusted returns.

- Develop and monitor key credit metrics including approval rates, rejection rates, delinquency trends, portfolio quality, and credit losses.

- Collaborate with Sales, Risk, Operations, Collections, Legal, and Product teams to ensure effective lending processes.

- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, risk controls, and governance standards.

- Conduct periodic reviews of credit policies based on market trends, portfolio performance, and changing risk conditions.

- Lead, mentor, and manage large national credit and underwriting teams.

- Build a strong credit culture focused on disciplined underwriting, accountability, and sustainable portfolio growth.

- Present credit portfolio performance, risk trends, policy recommendations, and strategic insights to senior management.

Required Skills & Experience:

- Strong experience in Credit Underwriting / Credit Risk / Lending within Banking, Housing Finance, NBFC, or BFSI.

- Proven experience handling Home Loans (HL), MSME Loans, and/or Loan Against Property (LAP).

- Strong expertise in Credit Appraisal, Credit Processing, and Credit Monitoring.

- Experience developing and implementing credit policies and underwriting frameworks.

- Strong understanding of financial analysis, borrower assessment, collateral evaluation, and repayment capacity analysis.
