About the Role

We are looking for an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and scale critical database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in MySQL administration, performance tuning, replication, backup and recovery, and database security, along with experience managing databases in containerized environments.

You will play a key role in ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance while driving database automation, lifecycle management, and infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage highly available and scalable MySQL database clusters.
• Perform MySQL installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Implement backup, recovery, and point-in-time recovery strategies.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and capacity planning.
• Manage MySQL replication, including asynchronous, semi-synchronous, and Group Replication.
• Implement database security, access controls, and encryption best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and conduct root cause analysis.
• Manage and automate MySQL deployments on Kubernetes and container platforms.
• Lead database projects, technical discussions, and infrastructure improvements.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and SRE teams to ensure database reliability.
• Mentor junior DBAs and establish database administration best practices.

Mandatory Skills

• MySQL DBA: 5-8 years of overall DBA experience, including at least 3+ years of hands-on MySQL administration.
• MySQL Architecture: Strong understanding of database architecture, replication, and high availability.
• Performance Tuning: Expertise in query optimization, indexing, and database performance monitoring.
• Backup & Recovery: Hands-on experience with MySQL Enterprise Backup (MEB), `mysqldump`, and point-in-time recovery.
• Database Security: Knowledge of access management, authentication, and encryption.
• Scripting: Proficiency in Python or Bash for automation.
• Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker, particularly deploying and managing stateful applications.
• Experience with Couchbase or other NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
• Experience leading database projects and mentoring team members.
