Mould Designer

Roles and Responsibilities :

1. Mold Design & Development for Molded Fiber products.

Design new molds based on customer drawings, samples, and specifications.

Develop complete 3D mold assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings.

Select suitable mold concepts considering product geometry and production requirements.

Ensure mold designs meet quality and productivity requirements.

 2. Engineering & Design Calculations

Perform mold design calculations including shrinkage, draft angles, wall thickness, clamping force, and cooling requirements.

Validate mold functionality and manufacturability before release.

Optimize mold designs for cycle time reduction and improved productivity.

3. CAD Modeling & Drafting

Create and modify 3D models using CAD software.

Supervision of detailed component drawings with GD&T requirements.

Maintain design standards, drawing revisions, and documentation.

4. Material Selection & Standardization

Select appropriate mold materials based on product application.

Standardize mold components wherever possible to reduce cost and lead time.

5. Manufacturing Support

Coordinate with CNC machining, EDM, grinding, and assembly teams.

Resolve design-related manufacturing issues.

Provide technical clarification during mold fabrication and assembly.

6. Reverse Engineering & Design Improvement

• Develop mold designs from existing samples as per customer requirement.
• Analyze mold failures and implement corrective design modifications.
• Recommend improvements for increased mold performance and durability.

7. Mold Trials & Validation

• Support mold trials and identify design-related issues.
• Implement modifications based on trial results.
• Ensure molds achieve required quality and cycle time targets.

8. Continuous Improvement

• Reduce mold manufacturing cost through design optimization.
• Improve standardization and design efficiency.
• Participate in design reviews and lessons-learned activities.

Job Requirements :

• 4-10 years of experience in mould design.
• Proficiency in SPM design, injection moulding, and mould development.
• Strong understanding of design calculations, including GDT (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience with Bom preparation and material selection, Calculations.
