Mosaic Division Head – Custom Stone & Surface Solution · Mumbai · Reports to DGM Operations

The mandate

Our client, a large, listed Indian building materials company with a multi-decade brand, national retail footprint and manufacturing in Gujarat and Maharashtra, runs a distinct mosaic and custom-surface division alongside its core tile business — CNC-cut, waterjet, engraved, inlaid and press porcelain/glass mosaic work for architects, luxury developers and premium interior projects. This division currently sits inside a larger operations function. The Company is now looking for a Division Head to take direct, standalone ownership of it: build it into a P&L-accountable business in its own right, develop the specification relationships that drive high-value custom and mosaic work, and scale the production capability behind it. The mandate is limited to this mosaic/customization division — it does not extend to the Company's core tile, marble or granite retail business.

What you will own

• Build and run the mosaic and custom-surface division as a distinct P&L within the Company — own revenue, margin and targets for this division specifically, and report on them independently of the broader operations function and the core tile business.
• Develop the architect, interior designer, PMC and luxury/hospitality specification channel as the primary growth engine for mosaic and custom stone work.
• Lead technical consultation on CNC machining, waterjet cutting, engraving, inlay work, edge profiling and press porcelain/glass mosaic finishes, working directly with clients on complex, non-standard briefs.
• Scale production capability and throughput for mosaic and custom orders — reduce turnaround time, cut production and installation errors, and increase the volume of customized projects executed successfully.
• Coordinate design and production teams to ensure custom and mosaic orders are executed to specification, on shop drawings, from brief through installation.
• Set and monitor quality standards across production and installation for all mosaic and customized work.
• Drive new product development within the mosaic and custom category — introduce new finishes, textures and design concepts ahead of competitor offerings.
• Build and lead a team across sales, technical consultation and production coordination for the division, including training internal sales teams and channel partners on the category.
• Own domestic and export customer relationships for mosaic and custom work, including after-sales technical support and resolution.

What you bring

Must have

• 8–12+ years in the natural stone, tile, mosaic, marble, granite or engineered surface industry, with direct, hands-on exposure to mosaic/custom stone manufacturing and fabrication (CNC, waterjet, engraving, inlay, press mosaics).
• A track record of owning a P&L, revenue target or standalone business unit — not only managing a product line or reporting into one.
• Demonstrated experience building and managing an architect/designer/PMC specification channel, with evidence of projects won through that relationship (not only through dealer or retail channels).
• Ability to read and work directly from architectural and shop drawings, and to personally hold technical conversations with architects and fabricators — not only through subordinates.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Strongly preferred

• Prior experience in luxury residential, hospitality or premium commercial interior projects.
• Working knowledge of imported marble, granite, quartz, porcelain slabs and engineered stone products as inputs to mosaic/custom work.
• Experience setting up or scaling a new category or division inside a larger, established company.

• Genuine hands-on ownership: this person personally engages on technical specification and complex mosaic/custom briefs, rather than only directing a team that does.
• Comfort operating with real accountability for a division P&L and reporting numbers independently, while staying within the scope of this category rather than reaching into adjacent product lines.
• Ability to work on the ground with production, fabrication and installation teams as well as in the boardroom with architects and developers.
• Organizational builder's instinct — this is a division to be built, not a seat to be filled.

Reporting and structure

Reports to DGM Operations. Will build and lead a team spanning technical sales, specification/architect liaison, and production coordination for mosaic and custom orders. Key internal interfaces: plant and production leadership for the division, design teams, and the core sales organization (for referrals and handoffs, not shared targets).
