Model Maker / Scale Model Engineer

About the Role

• We are looking for a skilled and creative Model Maker with experience in developing high-quality scale models of buildings, factories, industrial equipment, infrastructure projects, and custom engineering concepts.
• The ideal candidate should be hands-on with model fabrication, finishing, and project costing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manufacture architectural, industrial, engineering, and custom scale models.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and client requirements.
• Work with materials such as acrylic, wood, foam board, resin, metal, and 3D-printed components.
• Perform assembly, detailing, painting, and finishing of models.
• Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure timely project delivery.
• Prepare project cost estimates, material requirements, and production timelines.
• Coordinate with vendors for material procurement and outsourcing requirements.
• Maintain quality standards and ensure models meet client expectations.
• Support installation and presentation of models when required.

Required Skills

• 6-8 years of experience in architectural, industrial, exhibition, or scale model making.
• Strong understanding of fabrication techniques and model-making materials.
• Experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, and hand fabrication tools.
• Ability to read technical drawings and CAD files.
• Knowledge of painting, detailing, and finishing techniques.
• Experience in project costing, estimation, and material planning.
• Strong problem-solving and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Product Design, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, or related fields.
• Experience working on architectural models, factory layouts, equipment mockups, museum displays, or engineering prototypes.
• Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, SketchUp, or similar.
