Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced MES Technical Architect with strong expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing, MES, IIoT, automation, and IT/OT integration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating business and manufacturing requirements into scalable technical architectures and leading the design and integration of MES and industrial data solutions.
The role requires strong hands-on knowledge of Rockwell FTPS, Siemens Opcenter/OPS, ISA-95, PLC/SCADA/DCS, industrial protocols, data modelling, and Unified Namespace (UNS). The candidate should be comfortable working directly with plant/site stakeholders and functional leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate complex business and manufacturing requirements into scalable MES/IIoT solution architectures.
- Develop solution proposals, technical roadmaps, architecture diagrams, integration designs, timelines, and effort estimates.
- Design end-to-end IIoT data architectures covering data ingestion, contextualization, modelling, storage, and consumption across edge and cloud environments.
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical industrial data models and define data mapping strategies.
- Lead IT/OT integration across PLCs, SCADA, DCS, MES, enterprise applications, and cloud platforms.
- Design and implement integrations using OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs, and industrial brokers such as Mosquitto or HiveMQ.
- Lead deployment, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of edge-to-cloud data pipelines.
- Apply ISA-95 principles for manufacturing hierarchy, data structures, integration, and OT/IT mapping.
- Design and implement Unified Namespace (UNS) architectures for manufacturing environments.
- Work with shop-floor equipment, automation systems, MES, DCS, PLCs, and control systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, automation, manufacturing, quality, IT, data, and platform teams.
- Engage directly with plant/site stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve technical challenges, and drive architecture decisions.
- Ensure solutions meet pharmaceutical industry requirements, including GxP and regulatory expectations.
- Support system administration, performance optimization, availability, scalability, and security of IIoT/MES platforms.
- Document architecture, data models, integrations, design decisions, and technical standards.
