    Job Summary

We are the developer and owner of a prestigious 5-Star Hotel Development in Accra, Ghana, executing the project directly through labour contractors and directly procured materials. We are looking for an experienced site-based MEP Engineer to plan, supervise and control all mechanical, electrical and plumbing works at site on our behalf.

This is a hands-on execution role, not a design or consultancy position. You will be stationed at the project site, driving MEP progress on the working floors, enforcing quality against approved drawings, and taking the systems through testing, commissioning and handover to hotel operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Site Execution & Supervision

    • Plan, supervise and coordinate all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting and ELV works at the project site.
    • Supervise labour contractors on a daily basis to ensure installation is executed as per approved drawings, specifications and manufacturer requirements.
    • Drive daily and weekly MEP progress against the construction programme and escalate delays early.
    • Review and interpret MEP drawings, layouts, schematics, load calculations and technical documents, and issue clear execution instructions at site.
    • Mark out and verify service routes, shafts, sleeves, cut-outs and embedded conduits before civil work proceeds.
    • Conduct regular site inspections and enforce compliance with quality, workmanship and safety standards.

    Coordination & Technical Resolution

    • Coordinate MEP services with civil, structural, architectural and interior teams to resolve clashes and service routing issues at site.
    • Review shop drawings, coordinated services drawings, method statements and material submittals prior to execution.
    • Identify technical and site issues early and coordinate with MEP consultants and vendors for timely resolution.
    • Coordinate with specialist vendors for lifts, chillers, generators, HT/LT panels, commercial kitchen, laundry, pool plant, BMS and fire systems.
    • Verify that installed works meet hotel operator brand standards and guest-comfort requirements where applicable.

    Materials, Quality & Inspection

    • Assess site material requirements, raise indents and coordinate with procurement and the site store on deliveries and stock.
    • Inspect incoming MEP materials and equipment for compliance with approved specifications and reject non-conforming items.
    • Verify quantities of executed MEP work and support the Quantity Surveyor in measurement and certification of contractor bills.
    • Carry out and witness inspections, pressure tests, insulation resistance tests, flushing and pre-commissioning checks.

    Testing, Commissioning & Handover

    • Plan and lead testing and commissioning of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, fire detection and suppression, and ELV systems.
    • Maintain complete inspection reports, test records, commissioning documentation, warranties and as-built drawings.
    • Manage snagging and de-snagging of MEP works through to close-out.
    • Support handover to the hotel operations and engineering team, including O&M manuals and operator training coordination.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or MEP Engineering, or a related field.
    • 4 to 9 years of relevant site experience in MEP construction and project execution.
    • Strong practical knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, drainage, fire-fighting and other building services.
    • Hands-on experience supervising labour contractors and specialist vendors at an active site this role is not suited to design-office or consultancy-only backgrounds.
    • Experience on hotel, hospitality, high-end residential, commercial or large-scale building projects is highly preferred.
    • Practical experience of testing, commissioning and handover of building services.
    • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, schematics and technical specifications and resolve clashes at site.
    • Good knowledge of construction standards, safety requirements and quality control procedures.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit / BIM and MS Project is an advantage.
    • Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills, with fluency in English.
    • Willing and physically able to work full-time from an active construction site in tropical conditions.
    • Willingness to relocate to and remain based in Accra, Ghana for the duration of the project.

    What We Offer

    • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
    • Company-provided accommodation and site transport in Accra.
    • Annual return airfare to home country, medical insurance and paid leave.
    • Visa, work permit and relocation fully arranged and sponsored by the company.
