Medical Oncologist Consultant

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate and diagnose patients with suspected or confirmed cancer.
• Review patient history, laboratory investigations, pathology reports, imaging, and biopsy results.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on cancer type, stage, and patient condition.
• Prescribe and supervise:
• Chemotherapy
• Immunotherapy
• Targeted Therapy
• Hormonal Therapy
• Palliative and Supportive Care
• Monitor patient response to treatment and modify plans when required.
• Manage side effects and complications related to cancer therapy.
• Provide follow-up care and long-term monitoring.

Procedures and Patient Care

• Conduct OPD consultations and inpatient rounds.
• Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, risks, and expected outcomes.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary tumor board discussions.
• Refer patients for surgery, radiation therapy, or other specialties when required.
• Manage emergency oncology situations such as:
• Febrile neutropenia
• Tumor lysis syndrome
• Spinal cord compression
• Hypercalcemia
• Severe chemotherapy reactions

Documentation and Administration

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
• Document diagnosis, treatment protocols, consent, and progress notes.
• Ensure proper chemotherapy protocols and patient safety standards are followed.
• Participate in departmental audits, NABH documentation, and quality initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• MBBS with MD DNB in General Medicine, Radiation Oncology, or Pediatrics.
• DM DrNB in Medical Oncology.
• Valid medical registration with the National Medical Commission State Medical Council.
