Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

Act as a key member of multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality building services designs, while supervising junior engineers and CAD staff and ensuring timely delivery within agreed cost constraints.

Take a leading role in developing building services elements, including calculations, drawings, tender documentation, feasibility studies, and condition reports.

Hold a relevant engineering degree and be progressing toward professional chartership, demonstrating commitment to technical excellence and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Participate in multidisciplinary project teams, taking responsibility for understanding and communicating client requirements to the team while coordinating with co-professionals and stakeholders.
• Represent the discipline in project meetings, contribute to innovative design development, and present initial concepts through sketches.
• Oversee the preparation of specifications and drawings, including guiding and supervising engineers and CAD staff.
• Carry out site inspections and liaison activities, and support the internal management of small to medium-sized projects.

Is this role right for you

We are looking for individuals who:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related construction discipline
• Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration
• 7-10 years of relevant experience; data centre, hospital, or laboratory exposure is advantageous
• Experience in BIM/Revit and familiarity with digital or programming tools (e.g., Python) preferred
• Demonstrated strong engineering capability with an innovative design approach
• Ability to build effective team relationships and work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure
• Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills with a proactive mindset
